Profile

Supply Chain and Logistics

Supply Chain and Logistics Management is an increasingly specialist discipline and an integral position within any organisation. Spanning across the value chain of a business, the role encompasses procurement, purchasing, warehousing, inventory control, and customer delivery; all underpinned by cost and efficiency. Supply Chains and Logistics are now embracing the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to drive efficiency gains and remain cost competitive. Managing an operation of this scale and scope will usually require a degree in a closely related area and experience of working in a similar environment. However, the role is often broken down by function for middle managers and will provide excellent opportunities for testing managerial skills in a fast-paced, complex series of operations.

Useful A-level choices for a career in Electrical Engineering include Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Design, and Physics. You will be assessed via exams and coursework in most A-levels. There are alternatives to A-levels for entering university, such as a BTEC Extended Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Career Progression:

Engineering Technicians usually experience clear progression into Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Engineer, and Design Engineer roles with the right skills and experience. They can also move into a Team Leader and eventually a Production Manager role with team management and operational experience. As an Engineering Technician, you will have lots of transferable skills that would enable you to move into technical roles in other regulated sectors such as Medical Manufacturing, Aerospace, and Automotive.

Profile

Cleanroom Operator

Cleanroom Operators perform manufacturing, cleaning, testing, and assembly processes on sensitive semiconductor materials and optical components. They work primarily within an engineered cleanroom, free from dust and other contaminants, and wear full-length cleanroom suits, shoe covers, and masks to protect the products they work with. Cleanroom operators perform niche technical tasks, are familiar with health and safety and product regulations, and pay great attention to detail.
