Project Search is a full time one year supported employment programme for young adults with learning disabilities or autism who are in their final year at school. The aim of the programme is to support the transition from school to work and for students to gain employment at the end of the year, either within the health board or externally. All of the 2021 cohort seeking employment are now employed by the health board!
During their placements, students are fully immersed into the department they are working in and are given full opportunity to experience the world of work.
“I like Project Search because it is a very welcoming environment, where everybody wants the best for you. People treat you as an adult. Project Search is an opportunity of a lifetime where you can see how the hospital works and speak to the people in charge of the departments. You also have a direct chance of getting a job for life. I think other people, if given the chance, should participate as Project Search can change your life.”
